A podcast where you join me (Penny!) as I chat to fellow creatives over a cocktail.
I AM AN ENTREPRENEUR, LAWYER, AUTHOR & PODCAST HOST. I'M PASSIONATE ABOUT LIVING MY BEST LIFE & BELIEVE YOU CAN TOO!
Love it or hate it, social media is here to stay. Maybe not all of the platforms as we know them today, but as a general rule, social media is part of our lives and part of how we do business.
As a lawyer, knowing how to leverage these platforms to build your brand and business is key to the growth of your personal brand and a lawyer and in the marketplace, if you have a law firm.
This even applies to those of us in the business of law.
CREATING CONTENT AS LAWYERS
For attorney’s and lawyers it can be hard to know how to use social media to your advantage and you may have many reservations. I understand that as legal advisors, we don’t want to be seen giving legal advice, being unprofessional online, or making any mistakes. It can feel tricky to balance how to manage social media as a legal professional.
I know because I have been there myself and had all the struggles and feelings about it too!
Maybe as a legal professional, you don’t know how to build your brand using social media, you are not sure what to post, how to create valuable connections and bring work in the door to your law firm. Maybe as a lawyer, you don’t feel very creative or know how to create connection using social media.
The truth is (even though we are lawyers) we don’t have to be stale and boring. In fact, I say, let’s shake this industry up!
We also don’t have to pretend to be perfect, just because you are a lawyer. I understand the majority of lawyers struggle with perfectionism. I know this because I lead a team of legal perfectionists and work with a bunch of lawyers helping them to scale their businesses. But you know what? The last thing that we should be aiming for when it comes to our social media profiles, is being perfect.
Firstly this makes us so un-relatable and boring. People already have the perception that lawyers are not relatable, don’t make it worse! As a lawyer, it is important that you are relatable and this means to appear human so that you can connect with your ideal audience. Your clients are real people and they want to work with other real people.
